Types of car restorations
With all of the car restoration shows on TV these days, the classic car industry is at an all-time high. While everyone has their own style, two types of car restorations continue to dominate: all-original restorations and restomod builds.
All original car restoration
An all-original restoration aims to keep the vehicle in as close to its original state as possible — frame-on or frame-off. The goal is to make an old classic look and drive like the first time it came off the showroom floor.
Restomod
A restomod is a modified restoration. The 1969 Hellcat swap we did is a great example — still a 1969 Charger, but with a 2015 Hellcat drivetrain. There’s no one way to do a restomod and that’s the beauty of it. Want to take a 1968 Mustang Fastback and drop in a 5.0L Coyote? Do it!
How much does a classic car restoration cost?
It varies greatly depending on the current state of your vehicle and what it will take to reach your expectations. The larger the gap between the condition the vehicle is currently in and the standard you’d like to bring it to, the more the restoration will cost. Some classic cars only need a few mechanical fixes while others need everything from the frame to the body panels.
How do I get started?
One of our Performance Specialists will help you navigate the entire restoration process from start to finish. We offer free estimates to take a look at your project car. Car doesn’t run? We can recommend a towing service. If you can’t bring the car to us for an estimate, send as many photos as you can to info@bumberas.com.
