Well folks, Dad is a little busy trying to finish up a few projects before the weekend so this is Kristin. He will be back at it next week. I promise! Last Saturday Boyd, the youngest of the kids, went to Cotton Bowl Speedway to practice on a dirt track for the FIRST TIME EVER! He ran the same lap times as our Dad did last season and really picked up the technique fast. I think Dad felt a little old seeing his 14 year old son out there racing guys he himself raced before any of us were born (AND DUSTING THEM!) Since the weekend Dad has decided to start a new diet, and I am really thinking it’s because he wants to fit in his driving suit again and go have some fun for himself! There is only one rule in the family when it comes to racing, well two – be a Christian example and NO TWO FAMILY MEMBERS CAN BE IN THE SAME RACE AT THE SAME TIME. Our Mom made this rule for her sanity’s sake!
Back to the diet thing – Stephen and I are not too sure about this idea. We know it is effective but we can’t help but think of the Snickers commercial – you know the ones with Betty White?? “You’re not yourself if you’re hungry.” This week we have a lot going on in the shop and we need Dad to be happy happy happy.
We just finished fabricating a roll cage for a 2013 Mustang 5.0 and right next to that we are doing heads and cams in a Viper (1 of 5 in here at the moment). The guys are all steady working on whatever we throw at them and also dealing with this crazy Houston weather! I think it’s about 30 degrees outside at the moment! Just a reminder we will be closed this Saturday, February 23rd, for the FFA Parade. Look for Katy Mayoral Candidate, Carol Adams, in a silver 1965 Corvette Convertible (and me driving). Be sure to wave!!
As we go through the rest of this week and next a Bible verse that we are remembering is “I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” John 15:5. My sister always says “If He brings you to it, He will get you through it.” God is blessing us with numerous cars in for repair, service and restoration so when we start to feel overwhelmed we remember this verse and keep on truckin’!
I better go and see what I can do to help out around here – maybe go get Dad a Snickers!
